Studio and hide
The design stage is critical. The endless designs and sketches ensure we create a balanced structure.
In this studio, the walls are angled out at 5o to create an illusion of space.
While the client wanted the interior to be light and calming, with a charming period feel, they also wanted the exterior to be natural and rustic.
I shaped the coat rack and shelves personally to give the whole building real individuality - something that gets lost during mass production.
After hours spent watching foxes in the garden, it was a challenge to incorporate a bench that converts to a bed, but we resolved this through our understanding of design, creating a dual-purpose foldout bed. The walls, floor and roof are all fully insulated making it economical to heat in the winter.
When the shutters are closed, the hide is silent and dark but, open them wide and it's flooded with sunlight.

William Lloyd surpassed all of our expectations. It really doesn’t matter what I say the pictures show just how lovely it really is.
I never imagined the final thing would be so enchanting.
My friends all love it.
